Thailand is a South Asian nation that is well reputed thanks to its mesmerizing tropical beaches as well as the delectable cuisine – no wonder it is targeting at least 1.2 million visitors from the country of India in 2017.

Srisuda Wanapinyosak, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Asia and the South Pacific) told the media that they had hosted about 1.18 million travellers from India last year.

This year looks quite promising and they expect to draw 1.2 million tourists from India.

She also added that TAT is promoting Thailand as an affordable tourist locale for woman travellers and families, honeymooners, sports and adventure enthusiasts. Srisuda has also added that there is no particular age group that they cater to. Having said that, they do cater to various groups like honeymooners, sports lovers, adventure lovers, women travellers, destination weddings and even families.

Srisuda Wanapinyosak said that they are eager to promote Thailand as ‘preferred destination’ and also and a ‘affordable luxury destination’.

She stated that the travellers are of different backgrounds and age groups and might be capable of enjoying a great journey across the nation by joining the traditional Thai rituals and also exploring the legacy of the late ruler King Rama IX.

She mentioned that the direct connectivity between both these nations is going a long way in boosting the tourism sector in Thailand.

Srisuda Wanapinyosak then said that they have direct flights from places like Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai. There are 10 Thai Airways flights a week from Mumbai, seven flights, each of Bangkok Airlines and Air India in a week and 21 Jet Airways flight, she added.

She added that Garuda Indonesia has also started operating flights from Mumbai to Jakarta with a stopover in Bangkok.

This, she believes would contribute to a generous tourism boost in Thailand.
