For Britons, the first week of January is statistically the busiest time of the year for booking holidays. This year they could bag £1 million cashback on their bookings in the first week alone.

Analysing consumer trends data, number crunchers at the UK’s leading cashback site Quidco have seen volume of travel bookings made in the first working week of January 22-24% higher than the average week in each of the last three years.

Cathal Wogan, Quidco spokesperson, said that, one of the main reasons that the first week of January is so busy for travel bookings is that going back to work after the festive period amid the usual general January dreariness means that a lot of people need to get something on the calendar to look forward to.

This year Quidco is expecting more growth. Last year Quidco members earned nearly £750,000 in cashback on their travel bookings in the first week of January alone and they are hoping to break the £1 million mark this year.

January is a key trading period for travel providers as they seek to start the New Year with lots of bookings. That means great deals are available for savvy planners looking for value, whether booking a summer sun holiday or business travel for the year.

Quidco explained that, they want everyone to have something to look forward to this year. So if any of the members happen to stumble upon a better cashback rate on their trip after they have booked through Quidco, they have guaranteed that they will double the difference.
