Turkish Airlines announced that the total number of passengers carried in 2016 rose to 62.8 million in 2016 from 61.2 million the previous year; reflecting a rise of 2.5 percent year-on-year in 2016. The numbers of passengers carried in domestic and international flights were up 3.8 percent and 1.5 percent respectively.
Turkish Airlines also announced that number of international business class passengers remained same last year, while international-to-international transfer passengers increased by 14 percent.
According to the national carrier's report, seat occupancy declined by 3.1 points to 74.6 percent last year; compare to previous year. The carrier increased its flight network to 295 destinations; 49 domestic and 246 international.
Turkish Airlines also increased its fleet by 35 aircrafts to 334, including 13 cargo planes.
