The biggest cruise season is going to be this year’s summer season as declared by a spokesperson of the cruise industry.
Adam Armstrong who is the regional manager of Royal Caribbean Cruises said that about 1 million Australians and 60,000 New Zealanders actually end up going on cruises every year.
This season, at least eleven new cruise ships are expected in a cruise ship industry that is worth not less than $500 million for any economy.
Mr. Armstrong said that the average age of the cruise ship passengers had declined to the low 40’s and many families were going for cruises as well. He also said that certain cruise vessels carried 5,000 passengers and 1,500 crew members. This could bring up to $1 million per day to a port.
He also said that a cruise ship has the potential to bring about half a million to million dollars per visit, per day, when a small town containing about 6,500 people descends on a particular port.
Also, he went on to add that these cruises have been calling at five, six or seven ports per cruise.
And, he said that the cruises have been getting multi-million dollar investments from these guests.
This season, at least 2,50,000 passengers are expected this season.
