
Alain St.Ange, the former Minister of the Seychelles responsible for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine presented today his official election documents to UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai for the upcoming election that will decide the next UNWTO Secretary-General.
St.Ange met with Rifai on the sidelines of FITUR in Madrid in the presence of Minister Loustau-Lalanne, the new Tourism Minister of Seychelles.
"This is a big step for Seychelles, and the coming May elections are also very important for the UNWTO. The new Secretary-General of the UNWTO has to be the leader the world of tourism needs today and Seychelles is proposing itself as that facilitator and leader" said Alain St.Ange.
Seychelles is one of very few countries where English and French are both official languages and St.Ange is coming forward as a candidate who worked in the private sector for many years become joining the Government as a Minister. He has been a strong advocate on public / private partnership for the tourism industry of Seychelles and this has helped him steer the industry with a lot of success.
