Renfe high-speed trains across Spain will soon start to implement the Wi-Fi service starting December 5. The passengers between Madrid and Seville route will be the first to receive the Wi-Fi service. All 89 high-speed trains in Spain will be providing free wifi to the commuters by the end of 2017.
At present the trains give service in the Spanish cities of Seville, Malaga, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona.
The passengers, who will be travelling with +Renfe, can benefit from the 20MB wifi service after signing up for free. Commuters, travelling by first class ‘Preferente’, will get to enjoy a high-speed connection for free. But those, who will be travelling in the back of the trains, will have to pay €4 in order to use the service.
One can stream TV shows and movies live through satellite connection but they need to purchase ‘Movistar package’ in order to do so
It is pretty uncommon for the trains in Europe to offer free wifi service to all the commuters. Some selective trains offer free wifi service for the first class passengers only.
At present, Eurostar, that bridges the gap between Paris and London, provides free service to all the passengers despite of the class. But the connection can give a little trouble in some places.
