Tourism authority in France has recently announced about their plan to revive the fallen tourism industry of Paris on the latter half of October. As per the new plan, the authorities have a plan to hire tourism volunteers in Paris and they also want to rephrase the term “state of emergency” as “state of high security” to make it sound little less frightening to the probable tourists.
The president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse has informed that the tourism industry in Paris has witnessed a 13 per cent decline in the number of visitors from the month of January to August’16, which eventually caused a loss of around €1 billion.
According to Pécresse, Paris is going through an extremely difficult period, marked by terrorist attacks and extreme weather conditions.
The ailing tourism industry of Paris has encouraged Pécresse to formulate a six-point plan, which will help the city to woo more travellers. The plan will focus on quality of service, hospitality and most importantly on security of the travellers.
It has been found that Paris will employ around one thousand “tourism volunteers” and the first group of volunteers will start working ahead of 25th December, 2016. The English-speaking volunteers will be seen at various key travel sites of the city. They will be given internship placements at sites like Musée d’Orsay, shopping district of Grands Boulevards, the Palace of Versailles and the world famous Eiffel Tower.
In the mean time, the authorities will also provide classes on basic English to all the industry professionals including taxi and bus drivers, hospitality staffs and tour operators.
Pécresse has also planned to introduce a CityPass for the travellers, which will be launched during the Ryder Cup in September’18. The pass will let the tourists to ride the vehicles and visit the famous monuments of Paris. The city of Paris is soon to launch a ‘Welcome To Paris’ website and mobile application for the technologically literate travellers.
In order to ensure the protection of the visitors, numerous mobile police stations will be planted near the famous travel sites under the new plan.
Lastly, the region is about to come up with a TV series on Ile-de-France to attract more travellers from across the globe.
The entire plan to revive tourism industry in Paris is about to cost the authorities around €23 million.
