The cabin crews of the Norwegian airline ‘Widerøe’ has come up with the idea to offer flights to the travellers so that they can witness the Northern Lights during winter. The news has been disclosed to the world on Tuesday, 15th November.
It has been known that the airline will offer the one hour flight from Tromsø airport, which will take the travellers to Northern Norway to witness the world-famous Northern Lights.
Terje Skram of Widerøe airline has informed that the flight will take off especially on the days when the weather is overcast, which can be an attractive offer for visitors.
Skram has also informed that the flights will be offered to the travellers from January 2016 and the service will continue until March 2016. World travellers, who cross miles to reach Northern Norway and especially Tromso, will find the new service to be helpful as the new flights will help reduce the rush of tourists.
According to the travel industry experts, over past 10 years, the number of travellers, who visit this part of world to witness the Northern Lights, have somehow quadrupled.
Skram has informed later that they are a bit uncertain about the actual market for this, but if the planes fill up, they can devote even more attention to this and offer flights from more airports in the Northern Norway.
According to one of the local tourism officials, Trond Øverås av Nordnorsk Reiseliv, the initiative is an exciting venture and this will complement the Northern Lights special offers that the tourism industry already offers.
