This fall London is all set to get its first floating hotel. Good Hotel London is the latest property to join HotelREZ Hotels & Resorts’ independent portfolio in the UK capital.
The unique property features 148 en-suite guestrooms, a rooftop garden and a cafe, among other amenities.
Good Hotel is London’s first floating platform hotel and is located on the Royal Victoria Dock within easy reach of DLR’s Royal Victoria station, Emirates Cable Car, and London City Airport, and a prime location for the nearby London O2, ExCeL Exhibition Centre and Canary Wharf Business District. The hotel docked earlier this month and is scheduled to open for business within the next month.
Other highlights include a Wi-Fi-enabled social “living room” and stellar views of the surrounding water.
In addition to its floating platform, what sets the hotel apart is its mission.
The hotel aims to live up to its name by providing long-term unemployed locals with on-site hospitality training.
According to media reports, one-third of the staff is comprised of individuals struggling to find work. They would be taken on for a 10 month placement that includes training and working in the hotel.
Good Hospitality Group founder Marten Dresen in a statement said that, the Royal Victoria Dock is the perfect location for Good Hotel and we aim to offer a fantastic experience for discerning leisure and business travellers alike.
Prior to floating into Royal Victoria Dock, the hotel had been based in Amsterdam, where it opened in June 2015.
