Travellers and citizens in Britain had to face severe travel chaos due to wintry weather. Layers of snow, ice and sleet forced the Met Office to issue weather warnings in several places of north western England, Northern Ireland and northern Scotland.
In several parts of England and Scottish Highlands, overnight people had to endure a sharp plunge in temperature.
The local authorities issued several warnings to the Britons as the roads were covered in layers of snow and ice after the Thundersnow.
The wintry weather also forced the travellers to face a dangerous and slower traffic along with a chilling temperature, below the freezing mark.
The train services and the buses had to be delayed and some of the trains were not stopping at the stations in the Northern line between Liverpool and Manchester.
The emergency officials had to rescue several drivers, who were stuck at numerous locations due to heavy snow.
At the Snake Pass in Peak District’s Derbyshire section, the traffic was interrupted due to an overturned car. In several other cases, emergency officials were called to the scene due to overturned cars or head on collisions due to ice.
The pedestrians also had to endure injuries due to ice-coated pavements. Travellers at Devon experienced snow showers followed by poor traffic as well.
According to Meteorologist Alex Burkill, the major issue is the ice risk more than the snow risk. He also informed that the coldest temperature of -7.2C was reported in Braemar. Areas near Greater Manchester also experienced hail, snow and thunderstorm on.
Despite of travel chaos, people were in a celebratory mood because of the magical and snowy backdrop in several areas of Mid Wales, Scottish Highlands and West Yorkshire.
