About 3,00,000 tourists are expected to arrive the ITF or Taipei International Travel Fair that would generate over US$62.97 million in tourism revenue, as declared by the organizers of the event. This happens at a time when Taiwan tried its level best to draw more Chinese tourists.
The travel fair would continue for four days.
About 950 companies associated with travel from 60 countries are scheduled to display their products in 1,450 booths at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, as declared by Janice Lai, an official of the Taiwan Visitors Association.
This fair is one of the most important travel fairs of the travel and tourism industry.
It is here that the foreign and domestic companies promote sales and the travellers look for discounts.
This trade show is being conducted to boost travel in the growing markets that include India and Indonesia that are likely to become a ‘blue ocean for the industry’, according to the Taiwan Visitors Association.
The change in the Chinese government from 20th May onwards witnessed the rapid decline in the number of Chinese tourists.
In addition, the global economy is also having its impact felt on the local travel industry. At this fair, Japan would be the most active foreign player. For, it has several travel-related companies that would occupy 137 booths. The participants from the US would occupy 36 booths. Even last year, the US participants had taken up 36 booths.
At this travel fair, the L’Hotel de China Group, Leofoo Tourism Group, Landis Group and FIH Regent Group and many other Taiwanese companies have planned to offer attractive discounts in order to draw more customers.
