Commenced on 14 September 2016, Hong Kong Airlines, an internationally-acclaimed full-service airline, becomes the first and the only carrier providing direct twice-weekly flight service between Hong Kong and Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. The new service is operated by an all-economy class Airbus A320 aircraft. To mark the official launch of this route, Hong Kong Airlines held grand celebrations at both Hong Kong International Airport and Yonago Kitaro Airport.
Before departure, all passengers scheduled to depart the flight from Hong Kong were presented with a commemorative certificate and goodie bag to mark the occasion and show gratitude for their support of the route. On arrival at Yonago Kitaro Airport, all passengers, flight crew and representatives of Hong Kong Airlines received a warm welcome from airport representatives.
In his speech at the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Stanley Kan, Director of Hong Kong Airlines’ Service Delivery Department said, “The beautiful natural landscape, local cuisine and cultural scene of Tottori Prefecture is very appealing to tourists from Hong Kong and broader regions. With Hong Kong Airlines, passengers can choose to travel around Osaka, Okayama and Yonago, providing more options in their trip planning.”
Hong Kong Airlines currently has over 30 destinations covering the Asia-Pacific region. With the additional twice-weekly service to Yonago, complemented by the twice-daily flights to Okinawa and Tokyo, five-time weekly service to Kagoshima, twice-weekly flights to Miyazaki and Okayama, and twice-daily flights to Osaka starting 15 September and daily flight to Sapporo starting 30 October, Hong Kong Airlines will operate a total of 60 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Japan, covering 8 destinations.
