From 9 to 11 September 2016, the Sardinian town of Oliena will host Cortes Apertas (‘Open Courtyards’), where the island’s traditions and folklore are showcased for the world to see, experience and share.
Su Gologone, a luxury resort close to Oliena incorporates the very essence of the Sardinian culture and is an active partner in this experiential weekend. Defined by its Italian artistic heritage, the interiors of this luxury resort feature works created by the skilled hands of the women of Oliena. The furniture that can be found throughout the hotel – crafted with juniper wood, ancient ceramics, terracotta and white plaster with periwinkle inlays – can also be found in Su Gologone’s own Botteghe d’Arte dedicated shop.
Each year between September and December, Cortes Apertas takes place across 27 towns of the Barbagia region of Sardinia, where a different town plays host each weekend. Typical old houses open their courtyards to the public for a gastronomic and artistic journey through real Sardinian recipes and music. Traditional crafts including wool processing, as well as wheat threshing, cleaning and harvesting are also demonstrated across the different courtyards, while in the villages’ main squares, folk songs and dances are performed to entertain the audiences. Since 1996, Cortes Apertas has attracted tens of thousands visitors as well as becoming an unmissable event for locals.
Su Gologone also offers various gastronomic experiences and learning activities, such as art itineraries, wine cellars, local food tastings and cookery classes, where Sardinian women teach how to make a perfect Italian handmade pasta.
Luxury, art, traditional food and folklore – Su Gologone is all this, and more.
