According to the latest reports, it has been revealed that 12,000 pets have flown in business aircraft in Europe from January to May in 2016. Detailed study showed that over 1,100 of these pets have UK issued passports.
A UK-based private jet charter business, Magnus Aviation reported that approximately, around 4 per cent of private flights managed pets, and saw a rise of 2 per cent than last year. It estimates that as many as 11,960 private aircraft that departed European airports in the first five months of this year had one or more pets on-board. Around 1,580 of these took off in the UK.
Between May and August this year, which is otherwise the business time for private aviation in Europe, there could be an estimated travel of 219,000 departures in Europe, out if which ,760 of these could have pets on board including 1,155 from the UK. The company continued that that more people are taking their pets abroad with them.
The UK’s Animal and Plant Health Authority issued 127,657 pet passports in 2015 which was over 287 per cent high than in 2011.
James Armstrong of Magnus Aviation added that there is definitely a growing trend for customers wanting to take their pets abroad with them. However, what is essential is to have the correct documentation while travelling so that there is no hassle while entering the country they are flying to.
