Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister, Singapore has said on Thursday that talks are on to permit Singaporeans visa-free travel in Mongolia for a period of 30 days after a meeting with Jargaltulga Erdenebat, Prime Minister of Mongolia.
Currently, Singaporeans are allowed to travel without visa in Mongolia for just 14 days.
Many years ago, Singapore had granted visa-free travel to Mongolians for 30 days. Mr. Lee Loong added that the visa waiver would trigger an increased business and travel between Singapore and Mongolia. He also said that the visa-waiver was aimed at strengthening cooperation between these two nations.
Mr. Lee arrived for a welcome ceremony event held by Mr. Erdenebat at Chenggis Khaan Square on Thursday morning. The Prime Minister of Mongolia who is newly elected informed Mr. lee about his team’s priorities and the possible areas of cooperation.
Mr. Lee also met with Tsakhia Elbegdori, the president of Mongolia at the State Palace, who had once visited Singapore in the year 2013 for meeting Miyeegombo Enkhbold, a Speaker of the Parliament.
These political leaders confirmed friendly relations between the two countries noting that both the nations had cooperated with one another internally as well as in regional framework.
An agreement was signed for Singapore that mentioned that the country would share its expertise in clean technology, management, planning, distribution and storage of gas and energy with Mongolia.
The Prime Minister of both nations looked on as Mongolian Energy Development Centre and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise signed the Memorandum of Association.
As per the agreement, both Mongolia and Singapore would identify projects that would diminish pollution triggered by the burning of coal for the purpose of heating.
