ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS—Owner/operator Shaner Hotel Group has been awarded a Marriott Autograph Collection license for its French Leave Resort here, representing the first branded franchise on the island.
The six-acre French Leave Resort is part of the 270-acre preserve of the historic settlement of Governor’s Harbour and will feature 20 one- and two-bedroom Bahamian-design villas. Situated on the ocean, the resort has access to more than a mile of beach.
The French Leave Resort features a 24/7 fitness center, pool and wedding pavilion clubhouse, the 1648 Bar & Grille restaurant, guest golf carts, marina boardwalk, docks for mega-yachts, concierge services and in-room iPads.
Plato Ghinos, president of Shaner Hotels, noted, “French Leave is a magnificent destination property that provides guests with unmatched beauty and a highly attentive staff. We’re delighted to join Marriott’s Autograph Collection franchise and its reputation for quality, bold originality, rich character and uncommon details.”
Shaner Bahamas, a company founded by Shaner Hotels’ CEO Lance T. Shaner, owns and manages the resort.
The resort represents the second Marriott Autograph Collection property for Shaner, which recently acquired the historic Hotel Universo in Lucca, Italy. In partnership with Italy’s Marcucci Group, the companies recently began an extensive restoration and renovation program of the 70-room hotel, set for completion by year-end 2017.
In addition, this September, Shaner Hotels, in partnership with Prime Hospitality Group, expects the grand opening of its Playa Largo Resort on the Key Largo waterfront in Florida.
Shaner Hotel Group currently owns and manages more than 50 hotels across the United States, Europe and the Bahamas.
