Oceania to launch Cuba voyages within months

On Sunday, Frank Del Rio, the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Holdings suggested that Oceania Cruises might start its very first Cuba voyages within a few months while he was aboard a ship known as Regent Seven Seas.

He informed reporters that the company had received an approval to launch Cuba voyages by the end of this year on the cruise line Regatta, a 684-passenger cruiser.

Del Rio also said on Sunday that Marina, a 1,250 passenger cruiser had received a tentative official approval to initiate Cuba sailings by the year 2017. He said that he was eagerly awaiting a call from the government of Cuba to offer his company the final approval to start the Cuba voyages.

The CEO went on to add that a second ship belonging to the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings would also be starting Cuba sailings the next year. He declared that though he would not make a public announcement yet, other ships from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings would launch Cuba sailings in the year 2017.

Regent, Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania’s parent company is Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

The CEO, Del Rio had been offering his views during a pre-inaugural event for Seven Seas Explorer, a new cruise liner of Regent that is renowned for being the most sophisticated cruise.

Del Rio said that the Cuba cruises had immense potential because Cuba was a region that boasted of luxury as well as contemporary space.

He then said that he had visited Cuba and discovered it to be a large and beautiful land enriched with mountains, rivers, lakes and valleys as well as nine UNESO World Heritage Sites. He asserted that Cuba exuded a Moorish, Spanish and also a typical French influence.

Rio told reporters that the different cruise liners would sail for distinct destinations in Cuba. While one ship would be used to circumnavigate Cuba, the Panama Canal cruises would stop at Havana since it is believed to be an attractive tourist locale.

Warm relations between Cuba and America have motivated more than 12 ships catering to the North Americans to launch journeys towards Cuba.

Grand Circle Cruise Line and Pearl Seas Cruises have been found to be deciding to undertake trips from USA to Cuba.
