International Cannabis Conference to discuss on the potentials of medical tourism

On Tuesday June 28th and Wednesday June 29, 2016, Puerto Rico will host its first official international cannabis conference, becoming only the fourth country in Latin America to enter into the cannabis trade. The $3 billion per year medical cannabis industry in the United States could provide the economic stimulus and job growth that Puerto Rico’s citizens are looking for in 2016 and beyond.

“It’s the first time that an event with the scope offered by the Puerto Rico MedCann.Biz is celebrated in the island. The conference participants will gain valuable information on many aspects of the medical cannabis industry such as global practices, opportunities for real estate, technology, research, laws and regulations of medical marijuana, among other issues,” said Ingrid Schmidt, senior consultant for MedCann.Biz consulting firm, also hosting the event. Schmidt added that the conference is aimed at investors, entrepreneurs and other professionals interested in entering the new medical cannabis industry and health professionals who wish to learn more about the medicinal properties and benefits of cannabis-based treatments.

MedCann.Biz organizers expect a large attendance of people from both Puerto Rico and other US jurisdictions and the Caribbean. In the US 25 states plus D.C. and now Puerto Rico have embarked in the highly profitable industry. Puerto Rico also becomes the second location in the United States to integrate medical tourism. Medical tourism, a global phenomenon of an industry in which patients travel out of their immediate area for lower cost, access to medicine unavailable in their country through regulation, and more compassionate care could become a factor in making Puerto Rico the most competitive medical cannabis market in the world.

“Medical Cannabis Tourism should be a game changer for Puerto Rico. According to the Medical Tourism Association, Latin America is already one of the top destinations in the world for medical tourism. When you add in the versatile range of improved applications that cannabis has over pharmaceutical drugs for pain, as an appetite stimulant for patients on chemotherapy, and various neurological conditions from Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and seizure disorders; Puerto Rico is poised to break out from the pack in medical tourism and medical cannabis,” stated Francisco Bonet, Executive Director Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation. At MedCann.Biz, the multi-disciplinary approach to the cannabis industry will give Puerto Ricans a first-look at the art and science of growing, manufacturing, and dispensing cannabis.

Those who are seeking understanding of how they can participate in this exciting industry should attend the legal and regulatory discussions hosted by Mayra Maldonado, Esq., Lead Counsel for the Department of Health Puerto Rico. Also, Congressman Ruben Gallego will be speaking of his experience in introducing a bill in Arizona to legalize recreational marijuana.

Career seekers will want to network with other attendees and find the investors seeking to open businesses within Puerto Rico. Prospective entrepreneurial start-ups seeking capital investment will want to meet the financiers of this new industry and those in professional services, doctors, lawyers, insurance agents, accountants, and bankers will want to learn where they fit in. Med-Cann.Biz will feature the best of the best in this area such as Eugenio Torres, Esq., Michael Miller CEO and Founder of National Cannabis Chamber of Commerce; and Craig Ellins, Cesar Perez founder of GrowBlox Sciences and promoter of innovative companies in the production of medical marijuana, among many others.

Medical professionals and tourism professionals won’t want to miss the special sessions with Francisco Bonet, Executive Director Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation and Scott Giannotti, Founder of Cannabis and Hemp Association from New York City as they break down the competitive advantages Puerto Rico’s regulatory framework has over the global cannabis industry and the explosive economic potential integrating medical cannabis tourism.

For the average cannabis users, attending this conference will give a deeper insight into the plant and perhaps develop a new respect for its medical potential as MedCann.Biz will feature some of the most influential doctors and scientists in the space from psychologist Dr. Jose Fraceschini, Jose F. Rodriguez Orengo, Ph.D. Professor Associate Director of biochemical pharmacology and proteomics of agents, Mr. Christopher Hudalla Ph.D Chief Science Officer of ProVerde Laboratories and Todd Denkin, President from Digipath, Inc. (DIGP) who will talk about lab testing and product safety.
