New chef to recreate street atmosphere of Manhattan’s Meatpacking
district at award-winning Palm Jumeirah steakhouse - West 14th
DUKES Dubai, the luxury
hotel set to open on Palm Jumeirah later this year, has taken over the
management of the West 14th, the award-wining Manhattan style grill
and bar, located at Oceana Beach Club.
Building upon its considerable
success and in an effort to enhance still further the restaurant’s impeccable
reputation, West 14th has made two key appointments in the form of
new head chef, Clive Gilroy Pereira and restaurant manager Peter Thomas.
Clive Gilroy Pereira, has worked closely with Michelin stared Chef Gary Rhodes in Dubai. He has created a mouthwatering
new menu which includes lunch dishes such as Chicken
& Mushroom Pie, Smoked Salmon Plate
and Cornish Crab Cake. New options on the dinner menu include Wagyu Beef Cheek and T-Bone Steak, while classics such as Apple
& Rhubarb Crumble and Lemon Meringue Pie round
out the desserts on the new menu.
“I am fortunate to
have learnt the art of cooking food directly from a maestro, my
mentor, Chef Gary Rhodes. The
quality of food at West 14th has always been exceptional and the
menu is echoed in the urban, loft-inspired décor. But what I would like to
recreate is the real essence of the Meatpacking district in New York (which
West 14th Street runs through), the sights the sounds, the hustle and bustle
and reproduce that nostalgia through my menu. Food is my passion, it is what drives
me to create great dishes and memorable guest experiences,” said Chef Clive

West 14th
also has a new manager Peter Thomas. Boasting more than 11 years’ experience throughout
the region, he has built his career working in established five-star brands including
Ritz Carlton, Royal Mirage and Anantara. Thomas commands an enormous amount of
respect and is a pillar of service excellence.

has won awards as well as many plaudits and is widely regarded as one of the best
steakhouses in town. We have revamped and extended the restaurant’s outdoor
terrace, which affords spectacular views of the Dubai Marina skyline.
“West 14th is located in
the same Oceana complex as DUKES Dubai and so it will not only provide synergy
with DUKES Dubai’s food and beverage operation, it offers our guests a premium
quality experience, broadening the hotel’s appeal,” added Bin Sulayem.
West 14th is open from 9am to
midnight, seven days a week, and offers lunch through to 3pm and dinner from
6pm. The contemporary, open-plan, loft-inspired layout of the restaurant
attracts diners looking for a stylish setting in which to sample the best
steaks from around the world, as well as seasonally inspired dishes for those
looking for something different. The bar element is popular in its own right, known
for its delicious cocktails and mocktails and amazing views, and complimented
by a great selection of wine, new-world spirits, fresh mixers and shisha. Dinning
tables fit from two to 16.
