The ITE HCMC 2015 along with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized an International Press Conference in the Reverie Saigon Hotel on September 10 focusing on the innovative policies and offerings of the Vietnam Government. The press conference addressed international and local media representatives regarding the recent updates on tourism products, destinations and tourist facilitation. Vietnam as a destination is keen to promote its ‘timeless charm’ and is extensively rolling out new measures to allure foreign tourists in the near future.
The VNAT Vice Chairman, H. E. Dr. Ha Van Sieu delivered the opening speech welcoming the press and media delegates. Following to his speech, Mary McKeon, a representative of the VNAT discussed the new policies and offerings of the Vietnam Tourism.
McKeon in her speech spoke about how the opening of Terminal 2 at the Noi Boi Airport will ensure a tourism boost for the country. The recent visa exemption for citizens from France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany was another major talking point of her presentation.
VNAT, the responsible body for tourism promotion in Vietnam is in close collaboration with a number of global organizations that promises further growth in visitor numbers. McKeon presented Vietnam’s niche tourism products such as wedding & honeymoon destination, cruising, spa & wellness, MICE, pristine golf courses and the remarkable opportunity for adventure tourism in the press conference.
She announced that Vietnam is all set to host the Asian Beach Games 2016 in Nha Trang. This event is expected to place the country’s tourism industry in a stronger position and will subsequently boost the tourism economy.
The press conference also witnessed the presentation from Mr. Do Khoi Nguyen, the Deputy General Manager, Sales and Marketing Department of Vietnam Airlines. Mr. Nguyen described how the latest developments in their livery and the revamped logo and uniform are targeted to attract more passengers on board. He announced that by 2020, Vietnam Airlines will be introducing 120 aircraft and will fly to more destinations in and around the world.
There was a presentation from the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center describing the vibrant city and its tourism products. The city is a gateway for travelers to Vietnam and with world class hotels and meeting facilities; Ho Chi Minh City is poised to come in the ranks of the top 10 cosmopolitan cities of the South-east Asia.
The press conference concluded with an interactive Q&A session followed by a gala dinner and colorful dance and musical performances at the Reverie Saigon Hotel.
