Intrepid Travel asks, “What does travel mean to you?”

Australia’s largest adventure travel company, Intrepid Travel, has today thrown a question out to the world to find out what ignites people’s wanderlust.

‘What does travel mean to you?’ is a simple question that elicits such diverse responses. Is it perspective? Freedom? A sunrise over the Serengeti? Slurping a hot bowl of pho in Hanoi? Travel means so many things to so many people, but it is universally transformative.
Intrepid is seeking to create a movement where travellers the world over can reflect and share on the meaning of travel. People are invited to express their thoughts on what travel means to them at live.intrepidtravel.com and to share it with the world using the #LiveIntrepid hashtag.
“We are aiming to create a groundswell of travel love with #LiveIntrepid,” says James Thornton, Intrepid Travel Manager Director. “Travel is the ultimate equaliser and based on feedback from our leaders and travellers, we know that Intrepid travellers are reflective and passionate – eager to share their experiences and love for travel with the world.”
The unique website allows users to create their very own personal travel mantra by choosing a beautiful travel photo and matching it with some inspirational words that responds to the question ‘what does travel mean to you’? Once their creation is generated, users have the opportunity to share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest and are encouraged to use the hashtag #LiveIntrepid so the world can follow along.
“At Intrepid, we think travel is life affirming and most importantly, it’s much more meaningful than just seeing the sights,” says James Thornton. “As a small group adventure travel company, we aim to get travellers under the skin of a destination so they can uncover real life experiences. While Machu Picchu is an unmissable sight in Peru, we think those lasting memories are created over dinner with a local family or bartering at a local market. These are the experiences that people take with them through their lives – those intimate moments that forever change the way you see the world.
“Now, we’re throwing the question over to our travellers. We know travel means something different to everyone and we want to learn what that is. We can’t wait to see the variety of answers, not to mention the range of beautiful photos that will fill the #LiveIntrepid feed.”
So, what does travel mean to you?
