Adventure seekers wanting wind in their hair can save up to US$475 on two-wheeled tours of South India early next year that the operator, Extreme Bike Tours, says are “guaranteed to change the way you look at life”.Both non-experienced pillion passengers seeking the thrill of motorbiking in India and experienced riders can save 10 per cent on a 5-star and 3-star tour of South India in January and February, 2016, if booked by July 15, 2016.
The two 1400km tours will allow travellers to enjoy the spices, tea plantations and tropical beaches of southern India on the back of a classic Royal Enfield Desert Storm motorbike, with pillion passengers sitting behind crew and licensed motorcycle riders in charge of their own bikes.
Guests can decide if they would like to bed down each night in comfortable, three-star accommodation or some of southern India’s most luxurious, five-star hotels. But no matter what style of accommodation is selected, self-confessed ‘mad’ Englishman and adrenalin junkie, Zander Combe, who runs Extreme Bike Tours in India, says the breathtaking landscapes and the gentle and welcoming people who live in southern India are “guaranteed to change the way you look at life”.
The three-star, 12-day South India tour starts along the hippy-frequented, tropical beaches of Goa on January 24, 2016, and takes riders and passengers along the quiet (by Indian standards) and meandering roads of southern India, through vast tea plantations and hill stations, past the spectacular palaces and temples of Mysore and to the jungles of Mudumalai National Park where riders will stay in a safari lodge and search for tigers. The tour costs US$3555 per rider (a saving of US$395) or US$2835 for pillion passengers (saving of US$315), including the 10 per cent discount if booked before July 15, 2015.
Meanwhile, the five-star, 11-day South India tour traces a similar route from Cochin on February 6, 2016, back to Goa, with riders and passengers staying in luxury hotels each night. The tour costs US$4275 per rider (a saving of US $475) or US$3195 for pillion passengers (saving of US$355) including the 10 per cent discount if booked before July 15, 2015.
