Niagara records 6.6 million domestic tourists in 2014


Niagara Tourism is heading towards a year-on-year increase with annual reports from the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation indicating 6.6 million domestic visitations from the US only in 2014, international visitation numbers are yet to be revealed. Niagara reported 100,000 more domestic tourists in the last year.

Tourism in hugely responsible for economic growth said NTCC President and CEO John Percy. It is the country’s second strongest industry with overnight visitors contributing $561 million and day visitors $266 million on day trip to the Niagara region.


Niagara has made great changes in its marketing and advertising strategies which are paying off says Percy.  There are nine new hotels that are either opened or under construction which will be ready for tourists in the next three years. There are more hotels also waiting to be opened in the near future.

The resurgence in just not on the Niagara Falls but on the entire Niagara Country which is observing a  spread out of tourist in the region leading on to Buffalo as well.

When the data on international visitors is revealed one can be certain that visitation numbers will rise to 8 million in 2014 and going by the trend 2015 shows positive growing numbers for Niagara tourism.
