Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa honoured for
service on board and on the ground
The
airlines of the Lufthansa Group have also won a range of World Airline Awards
this year. The awards are based on results of the world’s largest customer
survey in the airline sector, which is conducted annually by the quality
institution Skytrax. Over 18 million passengers from more than 160 countries
evaluated around 200 airlines worldwide for this purpose.
Austrian Airlines was awarded first place for its service on the ground
and in the air in the category “Best Airline Staff in Europe”. The airline also
took first place in the category “Best Business Class Onboard Catering”. What
was authoritative for the top place was in particular the culinary range in Business Class on long-haul routes, with its award winning menus from DO&CO, Vienna coffeehouse
service and in-flight chefs.
The
investments of more than three billion euros made in the past three years in
equipping cabins and lounges, as well as in service, have paid off for
Lufthansa. The airline won through in the awards ceremony in Le Bourget near
Paris in the categories “Best Airline Transatlantic”, “World’s Best First Class
Airline Lounge” and “Best Airline in Western Europe”. Lufthansa is currently
equipping its over 100 aircraft in the long-haul fleet with its exclusive First
Class, the new Business Class and the Premium Economy Class. In addition, Lufthansa
now offers the broadband internet service FlyNet on board all long-haul
aircraft.
