The May Day Awards are bestowed on individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions to the Labour Movement, comprising NTUC-affiliated unions and association, NTUC Social Enterprises, related organisations and tripartite partners. These prestigious awards are presented during the May Day Dinner each year.
In recognition of its positive contributions to the Labour Movement, InterContinental® Singapore is proud to be a recipient of the Plaque of Commendation Award conferred by the National Trades Union Congress(NTUC).
InterContinental Singapore is committed to working alongside the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) and the Branch Committee in order to ensure the betterment of employees’ welfare. It does so by keeping an open mind in adopting suggestions made by the unions, re-employment of mature workers after retirement till the age of 68 and maintaining close communication with them to better understand their needs.
Over the years, InterContinental Singapore has adopted several initiatives such as the Inclusive Growth Programme, Executive Development Programme and also the Open Door Funding. To date, there are four management trainees placed in the hotel under the Executive Development Programme and nine employees with disabilities employed by the hotel under the Open Door Funding. InterContinental Singapore also consistently engages the union and the Branch Committee to explore various NTUC initiatives, programmes and projects.
