ICS Annual Professional Maritime Programme 2015-2016 ICS Membership

Τhe Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) is the major international provider of professional education and training in the shipping industry since 1911. The Hellenic Management Centre, official educational provider of ICS in Greece is committed since 1999 to the provision of continuous professional development within the shipping industry and to raising the professional standards across the Greek Maritime community.

To this end, HMC offers the Annual Professional Maritime Programme that prepares the candidates for the ICS Professional Qualifying Examinations, leading to ICS Membership.

 ICS Membership is the only professional qualification that is internationally recognised as a mark of competence for shipping professionals.  

Chartered Shipbroker status commands respect, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning. It also opens the doorway to an established and worldwide network within the shipping industry.

The ICS Annual Professional Maritime Programme is unique in its training approach as candidates are in the position to directly relate and apply the knowledge, skills and expertise gained from the course immediately on their work.  It gives them the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the industry and expand their career potential.

The Programme Structure consists of two semesters: The first semester introduces candidates to the four (4) compulsory modules, giving a comprehensive overview of the shipping business. During the second semester, candidates can choose three (3) optional modules, and gain a deeper and specialised knowledge in the following fields: Shipbroking and Chartering Practice, Ship Operations & Management, Ship Sale & Purchase, Marine Insurance, Maritime Economics / Finance and Maritime Law.

The ICS Professional Programme is addressed to: Shipping Professionals – shipbrokers, operators, charterers, maritime lawyers, agents, financiers- who wish to upgrade their theoretical and practical background and certify their expertise. Officers of the Merchant Marine willing to enhance their sea-going experience and practice with the commercial knowledge may attend the Course. Also, Graduates and Professionals of finance, management, legal and engineering background who wish to enter into the shipping industry.

The Instructors are Members of the ICS, strongly linked to the shipping industry and have an extensive professional and academic background.

The Course runs from September to April. The starting date is 14 September 2015.

Classes are held two times per week (Monday- Wednesday / Tuesday – Thursday), in the evening, 19:00-21:30 at the premises of the Hellenic Management Centre in Piraeus.
