Greater Fort Lauderdale Launches Travel Agent Academy Specialist Program

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB), in conjunction with Travel Agent Academy, has launched a new Greater Fort Lauderdale Specialist Program course for travel agents to become experts on all things Hello Sunny.
The course provides Key Selling Points of Greater Fort Lauderdale that agents can confidently use to recommend to their clients. In addition to a comprehensive destination overview, agents will learn how to create itineraries based on clients' personalities. Whether their clients' special interests include cruising, the perfect beach, water sports, nature/adventure, cultural attractions or non-stop entertainment they'll learn about all the experiences they crave in Greater Fort Lauderdale. With the destination's wide range of accommodations (on the waterfront and inland), from luxurious spa resorts to Superior Small Lodgings, they can ensure the right choice for their clients' budgets and lifestyles.
The program has a wealth of resources that will assist agents in marketing, planning and selling the destination available at their fingertips including VIP passes to area attractions to provide agents with a first-hand experience, a library of videos and brochures that include a cruise guide, a lodging directory, map and visitors guide, LGBT travel guides, wedding planning assistance and discount programs agents can pass on to their clients.
“We are excited for the opportunity to help agents increase sales and commissions by providing this resource and education program — it's a win-win for the agents, their clients and ultimately the destination,” said Nicki E. Grossman, president, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Agents enrolled in the program will receive a certificate of graduation as a Greater Fort Lauderdale specialist, continuing education credits from The Travel Institute and the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), a Hello Sunny pin, as well as automatic entry to win a trip to Greater Fort Lauderdale including travel to the destination, accommodations, attractions and more.
“We value our travel agent relationships and designed the Greater Fort Lauderdale Specialist program to provide all the information, tools and resources agents need to create unforgettable vacation experiences for their clients,” said Fernando Harb, vice president, Tourism Sales, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Since launching the program on April 27, 2015, more than 225 agents have enrolled and more than 100 have graduated the course. To enroll, visit http://www.sunny.org/travel-trade/travel-agent-academy.
