Atlantis, the Palm goes for gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015

Atlantis, The Palm will join forces with the award-winning resident florist of Selfridges, Philippa Craddock and the world’s finest luxury tea brand TWG to show for the first time at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show on May 18th-23rd, 2015.

Based in the Royal Pavilion, and set to a theme of ‘afternoon tea’ Craddock will recreate the iconic Atlantis structure at over 1.5 meters high and 1.5 meters wide, bringing the resort to life through beautiful and intricate flowers and plants to replicate the magnificent scale and ingenuity of the resort.

With decadence and luxury sitting at the heart of the theme, the structure will reflect the momentous silhouette of Atlantis, which serves as the gateway to Dubai. Inspired by the myth of Atlantis, with a playful nod to the ocean, gold dipped Galax leaves, Orchids and lavish Bougainvillea will represent everything from the resorts’ sun-kissing spires to the sunken city filled with exotic sea creatures. The structure will sit upon tea infused fronds to represent the magnificent Palm and home of Atlantis, the largest manmade island in the world – also known as the 8th wonder of the world.

Incorporating digital innovation, the structure will also feature the latest in virtual reality technology, whereby the resort will be bought to life through the ‘ZEISS VR One’ virtual reality system with head tracking technology. The wearer is offered the chance to seamlessly experience life at Atlantis just as they would in reality; offering everything from an exclusive peek at the Underwater Suite to a scuba session in the Ambassador Lagoon.

Additionally, in celebration of the afternoon tea theme for the hotels section of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015, Atlantis, The Palm will partner with TWG Tea to bring a taste of luxury from the Middle East to London with their mythical Gold Yin Zhen, plated with 24-ct gold; an exceptional and exclusive TWG Tea selection favoured by Atlantis resort guests. With a retail price of 320GBP per gram, the specialty tea is the epitome of luxury. Guests will also be able to enjoy a taste of the Middle East with Oud Night Tea, a precious fragrance, laden with a rich infusion of rare calambac, incense and smouldering tea flowers.

Set against the ethereal backdrop of orchids and shimmering gold leaves that make up the 1.5 metre high Atlantis, The Palm floral structure, guests will be served the rare treat by Atlantis butlers in the traditional Arabic ceremonial form, using the left hand and pouring from the Dallah in a small stream into the cup from a distance of one foot.
Ravini Perera, SVP of Sales, PR and Marketing, comments “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the first time, for us, the event frames our resort with a unique opportunity to bring alive the legend of Atlantis for those that have never been to Dubai. Our sole aim is always to enrich the lives of guests from all over the world by creating amazing experiences and everlasting memories and we hope our unique design by Philippa Craddock partnered with the unique opportunity to try the world’s rarest tea with TWG will really bring that to life for the shows visitors.”

Florist, Philippa Craddock continued “We have had a lot of fun working within two briefs, to ensure Atlantis was duly represented with its incredible levels of luxury, style, iconic status and multinationalism, whilst keeping within RHS Chelsea’s fabulous direction of A Floral Extravaganza Afternoon Tea. Working with Atlantis’ tea sommelier and TWG Tea, established in Singapore in 1837 and described as the finest luxury tea brand in the world, we built the hotel structure using decadent orchids and multifaceted gold dipped leaves to represent the lavish design of the hotel, alongside the luxury, exclusivity and impeccable service. The foundation of the design has been created from the ingredients of the hotel’s extravagant choice of TWG afternoon teas, including lavender, jasmine, mint, roses, cornflowers and fresh tea leaves, with the addition of the ornate traditional Arabian tea pots. We have shown that the foundations of a truly luxury hotel can be built from the traditions of afternoon tea world over.”
