Istanbul metro line extends

Istanbul inaugurated a new metro line, Levent-Rumeli Hisarustu, on April 19, 2015. The 3.3 km line, with 4 stations, connects the Rumeli Hisarüstü and Levent districts. The new metro route was officially opened to use on Sunday in Istanbul the line aiming at solving the traffic problem of the city links to each other Rumeli Hisarüstü and Levent districts.
Attending to the opening ceremony of the new metro line, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and PM Ahmet Davutoğlu launched the first ride.
Advertised as a ‘mini-metro-line’ and expanding about 3.3 kilometres, the new metro line connects the campus of the leading universities in the city, Boğaziçi University to Levent where the commercial centre. With this new metro line with the capacity of 8.100 people, the total travel time is planned in reducing to only 6 minutes.
"We are closing in on our goal of making İstanbul one of the cities with the longest underground rail line," President Erdoğan said at the ceremony.
Erdoğan added that with projects, both under construction and in planning stage, the 144-km long urban rail line will reach 430 km in 2019.
