Direct flights now link Cape Town and Pilanesberg

From 1 April 2015, convenient scheduled direct flights will link Pilanesberg with Cape Town and Johannesburg. In fact in a landmark agreement, the North West Safety and Transport Department has given local airline, SA Express, the contract to schedule commercial flights in and out of both Pilanesberg Airport as well as Mafikeng Airport.
Joanne Selby, General Manager of The Palace, Sun City commented: "This is fabulous news as it will boost tourism in the area and benefit those discerning travellers who want to experience The Palace and  unique African experiences available at the resort. We host a wide range of travellers: couples who are looking for a romantic getaway, friends who want to enjoy adrenalin activities and safari lovers. Thanks to these new flights I believe we will welcome more families too that want to experience Malaria-free safari games with their kids, avoiding long transfers from Johannesburg."
The Palace, Sun City is part of the SunLux Collection. The SunLux Collection comprises of three five star establishments, positioned in a ‘Golden Triangle’ that links Cape Town’s landmark The Table Bay, within the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront; Sun City’s The Palace, nestled in an extinct volcanic crater surrounded by the Pilanesburg big 5 nature reserve, and Zambia’s gracious Royal Livingstone, set against the stunning backdrop of Livingstone’s Victoria Falls.

Alison McKie, Group Manager Marketing at Sun International commented: "The arrival of these scheduled flights, will be of great benefit to all international travellers who want to make the best use of their holidays and maximise time in Cape Town or Sun City.

The facts:
SA Express will fly into the Pilanesberg from OR Tambo International Airport three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from Cape Town International Airport twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Return flights from the Pilanesberg to Johannesburg are also on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and to Cape Town on Mondays and Fridays. Cape Town to Pilanesberg flights cost R3 000 return (including all taxes and levies) and from Johannesburg return is R2 200 (including all taxes and levies).
