With a ridership increase of 4.6% over 2014, more Canadians opted for the safety and comfort of VIA Rail’s trains for travel between Windsor and Québec City over the Family Day long weekend. VIA Rail Canada (VIA Rail) welcomed 50,000 passengers on its 207 trains serving communities between Windsor, London, Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston, Montréal and Québec City, from February 13th to 16th inclusively.
As a result of the increased ridership, passenger revenues also rose - by 12.5% - compared to the same period in 2014. The route between Toronto and Montréal saw the highest ridership levels, and Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa and London were the most popular destinations.
