The original name of the gardens ‘Tivoli and Vauxhall’ refers to the Tivoli Gardens in Paris and in Tivoli near Rome and London’s Vauxhall Gardens. Since the original construction, when the gardens lay outside the walls of the city, the gardens have remained open and survived intact (except for a few buildings, which were destroyed by the Nazis during World War II). The gardens have been added to and repaired over the years, the idea being that the park will never be finished. Two of the most popular attraction are the world’s largest carousel and Rutsjebanen—a wooden roller coaster constructed in 1914 and still running today.

If you are visiting London, do not forget to go to Madame Tussauds. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions situated in Central London. You can find it in the building that used to be the London Planetarium. As you may already know, Madame Tussauds is a wax museum that features highly realistic figures of famous people. This Madame Tussauds is the original, which had been operating since 1884 in Marylebone Road. The max museum is being managed by Merlin Entertainments.

The wax museum is divided into several zones. This means that people of the same type of celebrity are housed in the same gallery. So, Madame Tussauds is very organised. For example, when you go into the A-List Party zone, you should be able to see figures of Angeline Jolie, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp, LeonardidiCaprio and the like. You are also treated with the Big Brother experience in this room. There are other zones with catchy names, featuring Hollywood celebrities, Warhol’s women, directors, athletes, royalty, writers, scientists,painters, musicians, singers, politicians and even serial killers. There is even a Behind the Scenes zone that also explores the museum’s history.

There are other sources of entertainment in the wax museum. You can, for example, enjoy a sit-down ride called the Spirit of London. You get to sit in taxis that go through London’s history. The ride starts during the Tudor times and ends in the 1980s. You may also want to go to the Marvel Super Heroes 4D where you will see the likenesses of your favourite heroes, such as Wolverine, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman and Nick Fury.
