Tunisia: 4th tourist destination with 6.27 million visitors in 2013


Tunisia is poised to repossess its 2010 figures in tourism. It continued its recovery in 2013 and had hosted more than 6,270,000 visitors with revenues of EUR 2,210 million, propels it to the 4th place in Africa after Morocco, Egypt and South Africa, according to the World Tourism Organization.

According to WTO Africa has continued to enjoy sustained growth. International tourist influxes in 2013 were up 5%, equivalent to 3 million additional arrivals. The region witnessed a total of 56 million tourists (5% of world total) last year, after having surpassed 50 million in 2012. International tourism receipts were unaffected at $ 34 billion. The area has retained its 5% share of worldwide arrivals and 3% of revenue.

North Africa (6%) had another year of strong growth. Morocco (7%) is the first African destination to have surpassed the 10 million international arrivals. As for Tunisia (5%), with 6.7 million tourists and 2,210 million Euros it continued her recovery.
