LONDON CITY RECOGNISED FOR CUTTING CARBON EMISSIONS

London City Airport has been recognised for its increasing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint by the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
The independent initiative, which is run in association with ACI Europe, has awarded Level 2 Reduction to the London gateway, reflecting its success in reducing carbon emissions per passenger in 2013.
It was also recognised its approved, detailed carbon management plan, setting out how the airport will continue to reduce carbon emissions going forward.
Declan Collier, CEO of London City Airport, explains: "LCY recognises that it has a duty to its neighbours and to the environment as a whole.
“Since achieving Level 1 accreditation Mapping in March 2013 we have been working hard to put in place steps to further reduce our carbon emissions and we are delighted to have been recognised for this work.
“We will continue to drive this programme forward and fully intend to achieve Level 3 status.”
The Airport Carbon Accreditation has four levels: the first is Mapping, the second is Reduction, the third is Optimisation, and the fourth is Neutrality.
London City is the fifth airport in the UK to achieve Level 2 accreditation, alongside Heathrow, Stansted, Manchester and Farnborough.
