“Help & Fly” – A round trip by airberlin for a good cause

The fundraising event “Help & Fly” will take place for the 16th time on 22nd November. On board the airberlin Airbus 330-200, a fun-packed programme awaits guests. Entertainer Käthe Köstlich will support the event, as in previous years. Guests will also be able to enjoy the flight in Business Class for the first time. Another special feature of this flight: all the entertainers and airberlin crew provide their services for free on the day.

“The event comes to life through the commitment of our employees, partners and sponsors. We are delighted that many of our sponsors have agreed to support the event again, thereby contributing to the success of Help & Fly. The event is unique in Germany and a really special experience for our guests,” says Dr. Martina Niemann, Chief Human Resources Officer at airberlin.

The event’s main sponsors are the brewery “Im Füchschen”, Dusseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH and aventem GmbH for audiovisual services. Other partners in Help & Fly are the Hotel Maritim in Dusseldorf, Klüh Service Management GmbH for security staff and AHS Euroground GmbH & Co. KG for ground handling services. On the day of the event, patisserie Heinemann will supply flight guests with a sweet surprise. Saitta Locanda del Conte GmbH will greet guests at the gate before take-off with a glass of Prosecco.

The one and a half hour round trip takes off at 2.30 p.m. on 22nd November 2014. After the airberlin Airbus 330-200 has flown in a shape recreating the AIDS ribbon, the fun continues in the Station Airport, the Special Event Location run by Dusseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH in Dusseldorf Airport railway station, where a ceremony to hand over the cheque takes place with accompanying stage show and tombola. First prize in the tombola is a return flight with airberlin for two people to Cancun, Mexico. The winners will stay for a week in the five-star Hotel Paradisus la Perla in Playa del Carmen with all-inclusive service. This prize has been donated by MEIER’S WELTREISEN.

All the money raised by Help & Fly will be donated to AIDS-Hilfe Dusseldorf e.V. Over the past few years, a total of around 640,000 euros has been raised for this good cause. Some of the money has been used to equip a kitchen with its own recreation room attached to the AIDS-Hilfe advice centre. Here men, women and children infected with the HI virus or suffering from AIDS can share their experiences.

“Help & Fly has great importance for the AIDS support programme. The sum donated ensures that some of the services offered to people with HIV and AIDS can survive. The support of the airline, its employees, the airport, sponsors and artists is also a visible sign of solidarity and acceptance for many of those affected,” said Peter von der Forst, Director of AIDS-Hilfe Dusseldorf e.V

Flight tickets for the 90-minute round trip are now available at airberlin.com/helpandfly and in the airline’s Service Center starting at 144 euros in Economy Class. airberlin is also offering 19 seats in Business Class for the first time for 199 euros. airberlin is the only German airline to offer exclusively FullFlat seats in Business Class.
