According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam in the first 3 months of 2014 was 170,772 arrivals after China (587,475) and South Korea (238,496).
On the other hand, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan also gained 80,000 entries in 2013.
General Secretary of HCMC Tourism Association, Mr Ton That Hoa said tourists exchange between Vietnam and Japan has been increasing highly. Recently, the number of Vietnamese tourists choosing tourism destinations as South Korea, Japan are trending increased.
In Vietnam, Vietravel Co.Ltd welcomed 1,000-1,200 Japanese arrivals per month and Japan is considered as one of its traditional markets. Vietravel said bookings of tours visiting Japan in the first 3 months of 2014 have risen by 200 percent over the same period last year.
Saigontourist- one of Vietnamese leading travel companies said the number of Japanese tourists visiting Vietnam has been increasing highly in recent years. In the first 3 months of 2014, Saigontourist welcomed 58 int’l cruise ships bringing over 20,000 arrivals of which 10% are Japanese tourists.
In addition, if Japanese government approves visa exemption policy for citizens of Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines in the coming time, it would be a favourable chance for tourism growth between Vietnam and Japan.
