Latin American luxury travel expansion evident at ILTM Americas 2014

ILTM Americas (www.iltm.com/americas) is returning to Mayakoba on the Riviera Maya, Mexico from 22 - 25 September 2014. The event will once again create the definitive opportunity for global luxury travel suppliers to develop business with buyers from high spending markets across North, South and Central America, including Mexico, Panama, Chile, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil as well as across the US and Canada.

As Latin America’s second-biggest economy, Mexico is experiencing a luxury boom, courtesy of a young, affluent middle-class ready to spend.  Home to ILTM Americas for the last two years since the event launched in 2012, Mexican outbound tourism spending is expected to reach $US 7 billion by 2017. In a list of the countries set to create the most millionaires in 2014, a 7% increase is expected alone in Mexico.

“Mexico’s new affluent clients are looking for a different kind of elegance. They want hotels that are more contemporary, artsy and with restaurants and bars that are happening and filled with locals. They still expect great service, but in more casual settings. There is a shift in the concept luxury for the young latin traveller and ILTM is at the forefront of the industry; providing hand-picked properties and experience and fun oriented DMC’s that give us the tools to be able to deliver on these new demands,” commented Paula J. Gamas , Founding Partner at ITG.

Also attending ILTM Americas will be luxury travel agents representing some of today’s 12 million US millionaires, a figure predicted to rise to over 25 million by 2020.

John Oberacker of Eden For Your World commented:
"We particularly love ILTM Americas because it is intimate and we find many unique suppliers we do not see at larger shows.  At ILTM Americas 2013, I was able to charter a yacht for a group of 18 next year in the Galapagos.  We will attend ILTM Americas again this year and cannot wait to see what new and exciting opportunities we will find for our clients."

Following last year’s success where 13,000 one-to-one business appointments took place throughout the 3 day event, Peninsula Hotels, LVMH Hotel Management and Faena Hotel Buenos Aires are just three brands who have elected to take part in ILTM Americas for the first time.

Alvaro Valeriani, Regional Vice President Sales & Marketing, Latin America & Caribbean, Hyatt Hotels spoke of his experience as an exhibitor at ILTM Americas since it first launched in 2012:
"Hyatt’s Andaz brand speaks specifically to stylish, culture-driven, local-culture intrigued, conversation-igniters who are young at heart – a growing market across the Americas.  For the last two years, ILTM Americas has reached out to these very relevant new markets, delivered discerning buyers from important regions across the Americas and enabled us to build real business.  The event allows us to start conversations, share ideas and ultimately establish long-lasting relationships. We are very much looking forward to continuing this success at ILTM Americas 2014."

ILTM Americas will welcome up to 275 elite travel suppliers and host up to 275 VIP Buyers for their exclusive benefit, creating significant opportunities to build luxury travel business and luxury travel communities.  Up to 69 pre-scheduled appointments between each buyer and supplier will take place during the four-day event, as well as a detailed programme of social networking activities.

Alison Gilmore, Senior Exhibition Director, ILTM Portfolio commented:
"ILTM Americas is essential for all luxury travel brands who want to take advantage of Central and South Americas’ robust economic boom and the strength of the US outbound market. Mexican young affluents are ready to spend, but so are many new generations across the Americas; they are eager to explore new horizons, courtesy of the many luxury travel buyers we will personally invite to attend ILTM Americas 2014.
