Hotel Prices in Europe have increased 48 per cent

Based on the 50 most popular European destinations on trivago, the April trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) shows that hotel prices have increased by up to 48 per cent month-on-month in some destinations.
The most significant hotel price increases can be found in Seville, where prices are up by 48 per cent compared to last month. One night in April will cost an average of £96, compared to £65 in March. Also showing increases of 40 per cent or more are Prague (up 43 per cent to an average of £96), Florence (up 42 per cent to £136) and Rome (up 40 per cent to £140). Venice is also notable, where prices are up by 39 per cent to £187.
Based on the 50 most popular European destinations on trivago, hotel prices have increased in a total of 39 destinations. 11 destinations show significant increases of 20 per cent or more when compared to last month. One night in April will cost an average of £98, which is a 10 per cent increased from £89 per night in March.

Whilst European hotel prices have increased month-on-month, UK destinations are showing significant year-on-year increases. Compared to this time last year, hotel prices have increased in each of the 20 most popular UK cities on trivago (with the exception of Sheffield, where hotel prices remain unchanged).
The most significant year-on-year increases can be found in Edinburgh (up 16 per cent to an average of £110 per night), Leeds (also up 16 per cent to £80), Norwich (up 13 per cent to £88) and York and Glasgow (both up 11 per cent to £98 and £80 respectively). Hotel prices have increased by 10 per cent year-on-year in London; one night in April 2014 will cost an average of £165, compared to £150 in April 2013.
