Emirates passengers will have a choice of added destinations across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia as the Dubai-based airline announces a codeshare agreement with Jetstar.
The new codeshare will open up 27 new routes and six new destinations including Bali in Indonesia, Byron Bay in Australia, Dunedin in New Zealand and Siem Reap in Cambodia.
Emirates Skyward frequent flyer members will also accrue miles on Jetstar operated flights carrying the Emirates code, as well as being able to use points to purchase reward flights on Jetstar.
Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Planning, Aeropolitical & Industry Affairs, Adnan Kazim said the new link between Emirates and Jetstar offers Emirates passengers a number of benefits including new routes to destinations that are not part of the Emirates network today.
“The link between Emirates and Jetstar is also fantastic news for our Emirates Skywards members, giving them more options to use their Miles to explore new countries and cultures,” Mr Kazim added.
Jetstar Group Chief Commercial Officer, Lisa Brock, also commented on the agreement that will “bring our extensive Asia Pacific network consisting of some of the most popular leisure destinations, to the doorstep of Emirates passengers across the globe”.
Emirates customers will still enjoy a full service fare when travelling on Jetstar, including food and beverage options and the same luggage allowance they would have on Emirates.
Emirates codeshare with Jetstar flights will be on sale from the 13th February 2014 for travel from the 6th April 2014, while Skywards members can redeem flights with points from the 1st March 2014.
