New record year for Oslo Airport

In 2013, just under 23 million passengers travelled via Oslo Airport. This is 4.0 per cent or roughly 876,000 more than in 2012 and is the highest number of passengers ever to travel through Oslo Airport.
Growth was greatest in international traffic, which saw an increase of 675,248 or 5.7 percent overall. The increase in ordinary scheduled services to other countries was particularly large, with 737,584 or 7.1 per cent. Charter traffic decreased 4.4 per cent compared with 2012.
Domestic traffic in 2013 saw an increase of 2.0 per cent or 200,859 passengers.

The number of commercial aircraft movements (take-offs and landings) in 2013 totalled 234,524, up 1.8 per cent from 2012.

More people are flying abroad
By itself, the month of December saw an increase in domestic traffic of 5.9 per cent, or 42,378 passengers. International traffic increased even more in December, rising by 9.0 per cent or 70,294. Overall, the increase in December was 7.5 per cent, or 112,675 more travellers in 2013 than in 2012.

“Norway’s generally healthy economic situation combined with attractive flight services from airlines and the general wanderlust of Norwegians have made this a banner year,” says Oslo Airport Managing Director Nic. Nilsen, adding:

“Demand for good routes is huge, and it is of course gratifying that we can offer travellers almost 170 direct routes. In 2013, Norwegian also opened intercontinental routes to the US and Asia, with even more to come in 2014. This is a welcome development,” he says.

Goody punctualit
In 2013, overall punctuality at Oslo Airport was 85 per cent, while regularity was 98.7 per cent.

“We are satisfied with our punctuality in a year in which we experienced significant passenger growth while we are simultaneously in the midst of one of the most hectic periods of our terminal expansion project. The fact that traffic flowed as well as it did is thanks to the hard work of everyone involved at Oslo Airport,” concludes Nilsen.
