CAIRO, EGYPT - Hilton Hurghada Plaza has kicked off 2014 in style after collecting a Green Globe Certification, the first to be awarded to a Hilton Worldwide hotel across Europe, Middle East & Africa. The prestigious honour is a prominent international recognition for achieving environmentally responsible standards. The certification is based on a structured assessment of sustainability practices at the hotel and is a coveted mark of distinction for green tourism practices all over the world.

I am delighted a company property in Egypt is the first among over 200 Hilton Worldwide hotels in the entire EMEA region to be awarded this prestigious sustainability honour.”
Hilton Worldwide is one of the only companies to make sustainability a brand standard, capable of being robustly measured in the same way as quality, service and revenue. The mission is to actively manage business through the lens of sustainability to benefit this and future generations by reducing waste as well as energy and water consumption. In order to attain the Green Certification, the hotel passed the stringent Green Globe requirements of 41 different criteria and 337 indicators.

Green Globe Certification provides certification for the sustainable operations and management of travel and tourism companies and their related supplier businesses. Green Globe Certification also maintains a global network of independent auditors to provide third party inspection and validation.
