Mexico City Promises Cultural Immersion with Appealing Lineup of October Activities

For those seeking a short-distance escape this fall, Mexico City is a perfect location with numerous events taking place in October.

The bustling metropolis promises cultural immersion with interesting events such as Broadway’s Wicked and Cats Musicals, Affordable Art Fair and Tenth International Folklore Festival paired with fantastic restaurants, a vibrant nightlife, impressive architecture and so much more.
Broadway arrives to Mexico City with two world-known shows performed in Spanish: Wicked and Cats. From October 17 to November 10, Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked will be live in Mexico City’s new Telcel Theater. With a capacity to host 1,400 guests, the theater will open its doors with this fantastic performance. While the popular musical Cats will be performed at San Rafael Theater from October 11 – 27. Promising the same experience that visitors find in New York, show tickets are now being sold by Ticketmaster.
From October 16 – 20, visitors can also explore the Tenth Annual International Folklore Festival, with performances by the Mexican Folkloric Ballet as well as groups from countries such as Argentina, Costa Rica, Egypt and Peru – taking place at different venues throughout the city. As an important cultural center in the Americas, Mexico City will bring together different cultures from around the globe and creatively display them through dance and music. An initiative by the AMDF (Mexican Association for Folklore Development), the program details can be seen on the website http://festival.folkmexico.org/.
During the same weekend, from October 17 – 20, Mexico City presents another art attraction with the Affordable Art Fair, presenting contemporary art pieces from 50 different galleries, all priced under $8,000. This fair is the Mexican edition of an international event that takes place in other major cities like London, New York, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Rome, Seattle, Singapore, Hong Kong and more. All types of artwork can be found at the fair including pieces from renowned artists to undiscovered talents. In addition to art-viewing and purchasing, visitors will also be able to partake in fun workshops to demonstrate their own artistic skills. The fair will take place in Expo Reforma located between the streets Abraham González and Bucarelli, 1 block away from Glorieta de Cristobal Colón on Reforma Avenue.
