
Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH) traffic report for the month of July 2013 highlights a growth
of 4.8% in passenger traffic compared to July 2012, with close to 1.4 million
passengers traveling through the airport.
In July 2013, aircraft
movement totalled 11,355 representing a 12.1% increase compared to aircraft
movement in July 2012, and cargo traffic grew by 26.6%, reaching 63,794 tonnes
of cargo moved.
Commenting on the traffic
report, Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports
Company said:
“Efforts to attract new
airline partners and new routes have led to yet another month of steady growth
in passenger traffic, making Abu
Dhabi International Airport one of the world’s fastest
growing airports. This continued growth in passenger traffic is the catalyst
for the Capacity Enhancement Programme, which will enable AUH to accommodate
more than 17 million annual passengers through the completion of vital
projects, including the new Arrivals Hall.”
July saw the beginning of
three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi from the
airport’s new partner Kenya Airways, contributing to increased passenger
traffic.
