The Top 10 Pet-Friendly Properties in the U.S

. A pet travel survey of more than 1,100 U.S. respondents revealed the top 10 pet-friendly properties in America. 

The number of U.S. respondents who plan to hit the road with their furry friends in the next 12 months (44 percent) is significantly down from the past year (71 percent). Fifty-one percent of respondents maintain that it’s challenging to find animal-friendly accommodations; however, TripAdvisor has identified some deluxe digs for Fido and family.

With less pets vacationing with their owners in the coming year, respondents cited the top reasons for leaving their four-legged companions at home:

It’s difficult to find a pet-friendly accommodation – 51%
It’s a hassle to take a pet on vacation – 46%
It can be expensive taking a pet on vacation – 17%

Of those hitting the road with their pets in the next 12 months, they plan to stay in the following accommodations:

Hotel – 64%
Home of family or friends – 45%
Vacation rental – 40%

Twenty-two percent of pet owners admit they have snuck their four-legged friend into a hotel or B&B that was not pet-friendly.
