Starting
May 1, 2013, China Airlines will partner with Russia's Transaero
Airlines on offering codeshare service between Taiwan and Russia.
Passengers will enjoy the convenience of one-time check-in and
baggage drop-off when flying roundtrip between Taoyuan Airport and
Moscow via Bangkok in Thailand.
On
April 25, China Airlines and Transaero Airlines held a codeshare
signing ceremony at the Taoyuan CAL Park, marking a new milestone for
air travel between Taiwan and Russia. Starting in May, travelers to
Russia can take China Airlines¡¦ Taoyuan-Bangkok flight followed by
Transaero Airline¡¦s Bangkok-Moscow flight. The roundtrip service
between Taiwan and Russia will be offered twice a week with flights
CI833/CI9300 bound for Moscow and CI9301/CI836 bound for Taoyuan. The
total travel time including transit is about 14.5 hours.China Airlines is the first airline in Taiwan to offer codeshare service with a Russian airline. All passenger check-in and baggage drop-off procedures can be completed at the point of departure at Taoyuan or Moscow, and all baggage will be automatically checked to the final destination. As part of the codeshare agreement, the two airlines will also cooperate on VIP lounge services, giving First Class and Business Class passengers as well as their VIP members access to lounges in Taoyuan, Bangkok, and Moscow. As one of the BRIC countries, Russia has an abundance of natural and tourism resources boasting strong development potential. Through this partnership, China Airlines continues to expand its flight network while further promoting business and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
Founded on November 5, 1991, Transaero Airlines was the first private airline in Russia and has an extensive domestic network. Transaero Airlines was also the first Russian carrier to add foreign-made aircraft to its fleet and currently has 95 commercial aircraft. From its main hub in Moscow, Transaero Airlines serves 196 routes.
The China Airlines Group currently has codeshare agreements with 13 airlines and is in discussions with several others. Besides Transaero Airlines, China Airlines offers codeshare service with Delta Air Lines, KLM, Alitalia, Garuda Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Air, Czech Airlines, Japan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines. Through codeshare agreements, China Airlines is able to expand its global flight network for the convenience of its passengers.
