Booking trends for travel daily deals revealed

Bownty, the daily deal aggregator, has revealed Thailand as the most booked destination so far in 2013.
The website, which is perfect for bargain-hunters, gathers hundreds of deals every day from sites such as Groupon, Living Social, KGB Deals and Wowcher.
Bookings through the site reveal that South East Asia is a huge hit with deal-seeking travellers from across the UK, with Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam ranked as the top three destinations.
Traffic from the site also revealed that people from London and Birmingham are far more likely to book a holiday deal to a foreign country, whereas those living in Glasgow and Manchester are just as likely to book a domestic break as they are a foreign holiday.
A whopping 75 per cent of holiday deals booked by Londoners and Brummies, in 2013 to date, were for holidays in foreign countries.
Domestic breaks are still proving popular however, with UK deal-lovers from London, Manchester and Birmingham willing to travel the furthest for a holiday at home. Scots however are least likely to travel, preferring to book domestic breaks on their own turf.
Bownty makes searching for a great deal on a holiday or short break much simpler; users can browse through the deals available from a whole host of daily deal providers, all in one place,” says Steffen W. Frølund, Founder and CEO of Bownty.
We were surprised to discover that South East Asian destinations were the most popular right across the UK, beating closer destinations such as Spain and the Balearic Islands. It just goes to show, that despite the current economic climate, people are still holidaying long-haul, they are just ‘holidaying smarter’ by using great deals,” continues Frølund.
