In
commemoration of Jordan’s 67th Independence Day anniversary,
Airport International Group (AIG) – the Jordanian company
responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the
Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) –organized special
festivities at QAIA on Saturday 25th May, 2013.
Travelers and visitors were greeted with two-hour celebrations and received a token gift of Jordan’s national headdress, the hattah, which is a symbol of the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage. Airport goers were also treated to an upbeat dabke performance by popular Ma’an Al Sahel Group to the rousing tunes of national folksongs.
“For 30 years now, Queen Alia International Airport has been an enduring pillar of Jordan’s landscape and community,” said Kjeld Binger, CEO of AIG. “Being able to share what it is that makes Jordan such a unique and wonderful country with international visitors and Jordanians alike on Independence Day is a pleasure that we look forward to every year. On behalf of everyone at AIG, I would like to wish all Jordanians a very happy Independence Day.”
