airberlin and JatAirways are planning codeshare agreement

airberlin and JatAirways, the national carrier of Serbia, are planning a codeshare agreement, which will be put in place in the course of this summer. The agreement is aimed at collaboration between the two airlines on selected routes within Europe and to the United States of America. airberlin plans to place its code on JatAirways’ flights between Germany and Belgrade and thus provide its guests with non-stop connection to the Serbian capital for the first time. In return JatAirways will place its JU code on flights across airberlin’s extensive route network. Via the airberlin hubs in Berlin and Dusseldorf there are convenient connections to Europe and the US, such as Chicago or New York.

Stephan Nagel, Senior Vice President Alliances & Cooperation airberlin, said: "Codeshare agreements allow airlines to realise mutual synergies and to extend their global coverage by means of their combined route networks. Our guests thus benefit from a more attractive route network and a comfortable and seamless travel experience."

Currently, airberlin has codeshare agreements with 14 airline partners worldwide. The new codeshare agreement with JatAirways is also in line with the airline’s strategic partnership with Etihad Airways. From 15th June, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates will commence daily non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade.

airberlin is one of Europe’s leading airlines and flies to 150 destinations in 40 countries. The second largest airline in Germany carried more than 33 million passengers in 2012. airberlin offers a global route network through its strategic partnership with Etihad Airways, which has a 29.21% share in airberlin, and through membership of the oneworld® airline alliance. The airline with the award-winning service operates codeshare flights worldwide with 14 airlines. The fleet has an average age of five years and is among the most modern and eco-efficient in Europe.
