Indonesia’s
national airline, Garuda Indonesia, has won the ‘2012 Long-Haul
Asia Pacific Airline Food Award’ by leading global travel
search site, Skyscanner.
A
panel of over 200 international travellers and bloggers from Asia
Pacific rated the quality of onboard meals of 23 airlines across the
region. The survey compared taste, presentation and choice of
in-flight meals in which Garuda Indonesia scored ahead in the long
haul and second in the short-haul airline
food categories.
Garuda Indonesia piped Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, AirAsiaX
and Air
China who completed the top five for the long
haul category.
“This
award reaffirms our efforts to transform Garuda Indonesia into one of
the region’s top airlines and deliver the highest standards of
service to our passengers. We want to ensure passengers fully immerse
themselves in the ‘Garuda Indonesia Experience’ which combines
warm Indonesian hospitality with quality service and showcases the
best of Indonesia which of course food is a big part of,” said
Nicodemus Lampe, Vice President, Area Asia, Garuda Indonesia.
The
award follows a number of recent accolades and recognises the
airline’s remarkable transformation towards becoming one of Asia’s
most successful carriers. Garuda Indonesia was named ‘The World’s
Best Regional Airline’ by Skytrax, a London-based global airline
review and ranking consultancy. The award was given to Garuda based
on a global customer
satisfaction surveyconducted by Skytrax of 18
million passengers from 100 different countries between July 2011 and
June 2012.
In
2010, the airline was also named as the ‘World’s Most Improved
Airline’ at Skytrax’s World
Airlines Awards in Hamburg, Germany and
achieved a landmark four-star rating by Skytrax in 2009.
