In
the first half of 2012 the number of Russian tourists
visiting Lithuania increased
by 43% compared to the same period of the last year, according
to Federal Agency for Tourism.
The
report said that such data were announced during the meeting of the
Head of the Federal Agency for TourismAlexander
Radkov with Lithuania’s Ambassador to Russia Renatas
Norkus .
They discussed a possibility ofRussian-Lithuanian cooperation
in the development of
health, agricultural,
children’s and youth tourism, as well as collaboration in the
field of industry employees training.
According
to the Lithuanian side, reasons of the rise
of Russian tourist arrivals have been development of
air transportation between Russia and Lithuania and Lithuanian active
policy of promoting national tourism products.
Discussing
visa issues, the parties noted that liberalization of visa procedures
on a reciprocal basis would increase tourist flow
between Russia and Lithuania. The Lithuanian side
emphasized they make constant efforts to improve this question.
In
addition, the parties discussed the possibility to
set up the Lithuanian-Russian working group on tourism in
Vilnius in early 2013.
